As many people know, LEDs create much less heat when designed and built correctly such as the Diamond Series LEDs.  The Diamond Series LEDs were tested for months focusing on heat reduction and light output.  The 400w Diamond Series LED was tested against a 600w HPS in a closed environment with the same control temperature and the same cubic feet of growing area.  The HPS quickly overheated the space and reached well over 96 degrees Fahrenheit before the test was ended for safety reasons.  The Diamond Series LED on the other hand was a comfortable 73 degree Fahrenheit at the end of the test and put off almost no heat signature compared to the blazing output of the HID light.
